Dimsum Recipe Cards

Production of this piece focused on grid studies, directed by professor Kelley Bell. Each collection is comprised of a cover card introducing the cuisine and five accompanying recipe cards with an image of the dish on the front.

Due to the presence of Asian glyphs in the names of dishes, type selection began with the palate of available Chinese typefaces and experimentations in pairings of these faces with Latin 'counterparts'.

Attention to the width and variation of stroke, curvature and rigidity vs. fluidity of glyphs were examined on both Latin and Asian typefaces for making an appropriate matching set.

Once the optimal combination of Asian and Latin faces were determined, construction of the grid began.
