AQUA DC Leads Delegation to Lobby Day on the Hill
More than 40 AQUA DC members descended on Capitol Hill this spring for our annual Lobby Day — the largest delegation in AQUA DC’s 28-year history.
Members met with the offices of senators and representatives from D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, advocating for legislation including protections for transgender and nonbinary people, immigration reform for LGBTQ+ asylum seekers, and the Equality Act.
“Every year, we show up on the Hill to say: we are here, we vote, and we are watching,” said an AQUA DC board member. “This year, the stakes feel higher than ever. Our community is under attack from multiple fronts, and we will not be silent.”
Participants received training the day before on how to communicate effectively with congressional offices, including briefings on the specific bills AQUA DC is tracking this session.
